Wow, how about that! An update! These guys here are from the old Droids cartoon of the mid 1980's. Here we have R2-D2, Jann Tosh and C-3PO. They were fun to make and I plan on making some more from Droids.

Hasbro Pirate TIE Fighter
Notice any similarities between this recently announced Pirate TIE Fighter and the picture on the right? That's a picture from Droids of a TIE from the pirate Kybo-Ren's fleet! While it's an amazing similarity, this new fighter is actually based on it's appearance in the Star Wars: Empire comics. It's a fine looking craft! Read all about it here, and hop on over to the forums to discuss.

Ebay Today: Sise Fromm coin
Here is the coin for the ugly guy himself! Sise Fromm was actually a very hard to find figure in the vintage Droids lineup. He was the only Droids figure available in North America that I never saw even once. Sise himself may not be much to look at, but that coin sure looks nice! Horville
Meet Horville, the owner of Horville's Hut of Horrors on the forest moon of Endor. Horville was featured in the Ewoks episode titled Horville's Hut of Horrors, which is his only appearance in all of the Star Wars Expanded Universe to date. What exactly is he? Well, I don't exactly know. He looks similar to the Hammerhead (modern name Ithorian) that you can see in the cantina in A New Hope, but there are also some big differences (location of mouth, neck). To me, Horville looks like a Star Wars character who is in dire need of a backstory (remember the What's The Story feature at the starwars.com databank?) as well as needing more exploration in the modern Expanded Universe. Why may you ask? Because I think he looks like a neat character! And I'm saying that having never seen the episode of Ewoks that he was actually in!
So if anyone has any more information or pictures of Horville, please go to the forums and share it!

1st Poll Results
The final results of the first Droids & Ewoks poll are in! The question was: Which cartoon was your favorite? The result? Droids won 5 to 3. There was a grand total of 8 votes cast. Who knows, maybe next time we can crack 10!

What else is going on in the world of Star Wars? Big news! A new Clone Wars trailer was released today! Looks like it will be action packed and full of excitement. Gotta love those droids in it!

Ebay Today: Film cel
Today we're looking at another great animation cel, this time from Droids. These are probably some of the nicest collectibles from the Droids and Ewoks series that a person could have. It's actually a piece of art that was used to make the show! To check out this listing, click here

Artist Spotlight
Here is another nice piece of Stirzy's artwork that is not included in the gallery at swagonline.net. Here we have Mungo Baobab's girlfriend Auren Yomm. Auren was one of the main characters in the final story arc in the Droids series. I must say, Stirzy's art looks a lot better than the original! To get a closer look, just click on the picture.
Ebay Today: Ewoks Dishes
Here is a neat find from Ebay: Ewoks dishes! As you can see, these are not actually based on the Ewoks cartoon. If you take a close look, you can see where it says Return of the Jedi on a few of the items. But yet it has Princess Kneesaa and a very cartoonish looking Wicket on them. If I were to guess, I would say that this is probably a post Return of the Jedi pre Ewoks set. Looks very nice though! To check out this auction, click here

For some amazing artwork, check out Stirzy's gallery! He has done some amazing pieces based on some of the characters and ships of Droids, as well as other characters that inhabit the Star Wars universe like the Ewok that's shown above. Check it out, you'll be glad you did! Stirzy's Gallery
Ebay Today: Thall Joben coin
It looks like today must be Thall Joben day! You can still find quite a few of the coins that were sold with the Kenner action figures available on Ebay, including this beauty. Kenner sure knew how to make coins! To check out this listing, just click here
Character Bios: Day 6
Today in character bios we're taking a look at Thall Joben. Thall and his speeder racing friend Jord Dusat find C-3PO and R2-D2 wandering in the desert on the planet Ingo and realize R2's potential in helping them race their new speeder the White Witch. Thall, Jord and Kea Moll become a constant thorn in the side of the gangsters Sise and Tig Fromm. The Thall Joben story arc ends with a thrilling race against Boba Fett in the Boonta speeder race.
An interesting side note about Thall is that he owns a green lightsaber which was left behind by someone who stopped at his speeder repair shop. Even though Thall isn't a Jedi, he does make use of his lightsaber a few times throughout the series.

Character Bios: Day 5
Maybe it's just me, but Logray doesn't seem anything like the Logray we knew from Return of the Jedi. Hmmm, okay, it's not just me. Anyway, Logray is a major and very powerful character in the Ewoks cartoon series. With all the magic that he can do, you wouldn't think that he would be so afraid of C-3PO gently floating around in a chair!
A Look Outside
Let's take a look outside the world of Droids & Ewoks for a few minutes and see what else in going on in Star Wars land.
In last Friday's Q&A over at yakface.com, Hasbro sent along the first packaged image of this year's San Diego Comic Con exclusive. Based upon a scene from the Empire Strikes Back, it's the "Disturbance in the Force" set featuring Darth Vader, a giant holographic head of the Emperor and a display base that plays audio from the scene in the movie. Looks like fun! Check out all the details here: www.yakface.com/

New Ewoks & Droids forum!
I am in the process of creating a forum for this site. It's still under construction, but feel free to check it out at the link on the top right.
Spotlight on the Links
Here is a fan site that is definitly worth checking out. At Imperial Shipyards you can read up on all the latest collecting news, talk to the friendly people in the forums, ask questions to Hasbro that will be answered in a bi-weekly Q&A and much more! And of course, check out their threads on Ewoks and Droids in the forums!

Ebay Today: Droids Books
Today's Ebay Today spotlight is on a couple of books from the Droids series. Here's a couple of great stories from the Jann Tosh story arc that would make for a fun read. Like yesterday's Ebay Today column, I didn't know that these existed either! These can be found here.

Spotlight on the Links
If you want to find more on Droids and Ewoks, why not take a look at some of my "Links worth checking". One great site is The Art of Jeff Carlisle. Jeff has done some amazing sketches of some of the characters, vehicles and worlds of Droids that were featured in Polyhedron magazine. Check out some of his work, you'll be glad you did!
Character Bios: Day 2
Here's R2-D2 from Droids! The cartoon shows us a lot more about R2's personality than we ever knew. For instance, did you know that R2 likes to breakdance, and for a short period of time he even had a girlfriend? Okay, those are some of the not so fond memories of Droids for me, but for the most part, he is still the good old R2-D2 that we got to know in the movies.
Ebay Today: Day 2
Here's a nice find that I didn't even know existed: a Princess Kneesaa Ice Capades print! What a find! Ebay Today: Tig Fromm action figure
Here's day one of what I plan on making a regular feature: highlighting some of the Ewoks and Droids items for sale on Ebay.
Today I just had to show this pristine looking Tig Fromm figure. It sure looks nice for it's age, but one thing that doesn't look too nice is the price! He's listed at a buy it now price of $249.99!

As you can see, Kenner forgot to add the red highlights outfit, but that's 1980's Kenner painting for you. Just think of what Hasbro could do today!
For some reason, the picture comes out looking transparant, at least on my computer. If it does on yours, just click on the picture for a clearer shot.
To check out this and other Tig Fromm items, just follow the link:

Memories...
Ah, the memories! It's been over 20 years since the Ewoks and Droids cartoons first aired, and now that the new 3D Clone Wars series will soon be airing this fall, it seems like an appropriate time to look back at these original series.
I still remember reading in Bantha Tracks way back in the mid '80's that there would soon be Star Wars cartoons coming to our TV screens, one featuring the adventures of C-3PO and R2-D2, and the other featuring the super popular characters introduced in Return of the Jedi: the Ewoks!
On the day that both of these series both aired, I remember waking up around 5AM to tune in (for some reason it was a very early showing for us in British Columbia). What a thrill to hear those theme songs for the first time! The shows did seem a little corny compared to the coolness of the Star Wars movies, but for a kid they were still a lot of fun, and they assured fans that Star Wars would live on even after the Original Trilogy had come to an end.
